During the 1850s the Hetz Island [Hetz Insel], the largest in surface area of the Vltava islands in Prague, was also known by its German name of Gross Venedig or in Czech, Velké Benatky. During the 1860s island was also named in Czech Štvanice (lit. ‘hunt or chase’), the name by which it is generally known today. A hall on the island provided a venue for events indoors.See also:
