Mercy’s Anzeiger 27/4/1854 reported that ‘The Italian community of Prague also began the day of the marriage of His Apostolic Majesty [Franz Joseph] in a celebratory manner. In the Italian chapel was a solemn Te Deum service [preached] by Mr Gaspardis, Royal Court Chaplain. The beautiful [musical] composition had been written by Mr A. Maschek [Mašek]. The performance under the leadership of choir-director Mr Holub has to be described as splendid.’
