Advance news of this event was published by Tagesbote aus Böhmen 8/12/1857 in a brief report noting: ‘In the forthcoming Carneval will take place the usual Reunions of the „Czech beseda‟ [‘die üblichen Reunionen „české beseda‟], the profits frm which are earmarked for the projected Czech Theatre, specifically on 25th January and 8th February.’ No further details were given by this source.
The German-language Prague newspaper Bohemia in its issues of 25/1/1858 and 8/2/1858 recorded these events as taking place on the Žofín Island.
