Chopin, Fryderyck Francisek (1810-1849). Polish pianist and composer. Child prodigy as a pianist and composer, his musical education was largely gained in Warsaw. He left politically unstable Poland in 1830 to settle in Paris where he spent much of the remainder of his life. He did however visit the Czech lands, visiting the spas of Karlovy Vary and Marianské Lázně. His output as a composer comprises for the most part works for piano.
