Kroff Krow Krob
Krov, Josef Theodor (1797-1859). Czech singer, composer and teacher. Educated in philosophy and law, but simultaneously studied music and after participating in amateur opera productions given in Prague in the 1820s he turned to a career as a singer, composer and music teacher. He travelled widely in Europe, settling for a time in London and gaining a reputation there as an effective teacher. His compositions include Czech songs, of which Těšme se blahou nadějí became particularly associated with the Czech patriotic movement during the middle nineteenth century and was for a time suppressed by the Austrian censor.
