Eduard Hanslick

Hanslick, Eduard 1825-1904). Bohemian music critic. Born in Prague where he studied music initially with his father. After graduating in law from Prague University he embarked upon a career as a newspaper correspondent and music critic. He settled in Vienna where in addition to his activities as a critic and writer he also taught at the University. During his early career he also composed, mainly songs and piano works.
