Berr, Friedrich (1774-1838). German clarinettist and composer. Studied composition with Fétis and Reicha, settling in Paris in the 1810s and learning to play the clarinet. He obtained positions playing in the theatre and went on to become one of the leading clarinet virtuosi and teachers of the Romantic era. His compositions included works for his own instrument (including didactic works) and the bassoon, as well as for military music ensemble.
