Šmilovský, Alois Vojtěch (1837-1883). Czech poet and writer. Closely associated with the composer Leopold Měchura, for whom he worked several texts for setting to music. However, Šmilovský’s Czech folk and patriotically inspired poems and ballads were also set by many leading native composers of the second half of the nineteenth century, including Karel Bendl and J.L. Zvonař.
