Muzio Clementi

Clementi, Muzio (1752-1832). Italian pianist, piano manufacturer, publisher and composer. Came to London at an early age and soon gained enormous success both performing and as a composer. Although he toured the continent as a virtuoso he remained in Britain for most of his life, acquiring a considerable fortune as partner in a firm of piano makers and music dealers that subsequently became Clementi and Co. His output comprises many symphonies and a vast quantity of keyboard music.
