Maximillian, Abbé Stadler

Stadler, Maximilan Abbé (1748-1833). Austrian priest, organist and composer. Musical training as a choirboy and then at the Jesuit College in Vienna. Joined the Benedictine order at Melk in 1766, then occupied a succession of church posts from parish priest to abbot, latterly in Bohemia. Compositions include much sacred music, also various secular works for voices.
