Maria Francesca Malibran Garcia Bériot
Malibran, Maria Felicita (1808-1836). French soprano singer of Spanish descent. Taught singing by her father and first appeared publically in an operatic rôle in the King’s Theatre in London. Travelled to New York where she performed in the Italian Opera, but within a year returned to Europe and embarked on a brief career of astonishing public success. Also active and effective as a composer, primarily of songs.
