The Lumír text described how on this Saturday visit the Empress Marie Anna was welcomed into the Institute for the Blind by the pupils, boys and girls, singing the national hymn. ‘The pupils were then examined in religious studies and then in geography, in which a moulded [vypouklý - lit. ‘bulging’ i.e. shaped to be tactile] map served very well .... One of the pupils proved his ability on the piano and all then sang in the chorus Píseň nevidomc ... on the departure [of the Empress] they began to sing the Czech song “Ach radost!” - The Empress returned until they had finished [singing].’
