Commentary:

The Lokalzeitung section of Bohemia 31/12/1851 announced that ‘New Year’s Day promises local friends of art a musical indulgence of the rarest Art. Namely, the concert-singer known to be of the highest rank Valerie Ruplin gives on Thursday at 12 noon in the Konvikt Hall a concert, of which interest stems not only fro the extraordinary Russian herself, but also through from the attractive programme. Messrs Reichel and Kunz have amiably agreed to participate in a Trio by Verdy [Verdi]. In addition, the concert-giver will sing an aria by Bellini, German Lieder by Lindblad, Kücken and Curschmann (the little Hanns [der kleine Hanns] and French and Italian songs and a Chopin Mazurka.’ The report also remarked that given the extraordinarily brilliant success for which Ruplin was renowned among certain circles of Prague friends of art, the success of this occasion could not be doubted. Also noted to be participating were three local artists, Goltermann, Němec and Bezečny.

Lumír 31/12/1851 announced that the singer Baroness Valerie z Ruplínu would give a concert tomorrow in the Konvikt [Hall]. Participating too would be Messrs Kunz, Reichel, Němec, Goltermann and Bezečný.

A review, signed ‘Obolus’, of this concert was published by Prager Zeitung 1/1/1852.
