The German-language Prague newspaper Tagesbote aus Böhmen 18/2/1857 quoted from Prager Zeitung that: ‘On 16th February a Court Ball [Hofball] took place in the Appartments of His Majesty the Emperor Ferdinand. Also present was his Serene Highness the Archduke Franz Karl. The high Civil and Military Dignataries and the high nobility had the honour to be invited to this very splendid Festival Ball.’ No details were given of the musical content of the occasion or of the participating musicians.
