Initial news of Wagner’s intention to give a concert in Prague in the autumn of 1863 was published by the German-language newspaper Prager Morgenpost on 15/10/1863 in a brief item of news relating: ‘Richard Wagner is to arrange a concert here in the course of November’. On 2/11/1863 the newspaper also reported that it had heard Wagner would give a second concert ‘next Sunday’, i.e. on 8/11/1863. The Tagesanzeiger daily almanac of Prague social and musical events published by Prager Morgenpost 8/11/1863 noted: ‘Second great Concert of Mr Richard Wagner on the Žofín Island.’ After the concert on 9/11/1863 Prager Morgenpost related further news that ‘As we have heard, Mr Richard Wagner intended to arranged a third concert, specifically on Wednesday.’ This third concert did not take place.
