• Orchestra of the Prague Sokol Gymnastic Society: participating orchestra

Národní listy 2/1/1863 reported in its section of daily news that the ‘Committee of the Civic Society [Měšťanská beseda] arranges again for its members during this year’s Carnival three entertainments in the [locality of the] Civic Society, specifically on 12th, 20th and 27th January. Playing will be the orchestra of Sokol. The musical trial takes places on 5th January, also at the Society [venue]. Preparations for the trial are already being assiduously executed.’ On 5/1/1863 Národní listy reported further about the musical trial: ‘In the Měšťanská beseda [Civic Society] will take place today the musical rehearsal of the Sokol ensemble to the Carnival dance entertainments, to which gentlemen members of the Society together with their ladies and invited. Commencing at 7.30pm.’ No further details of this event were given by the source.
