Josef August Heller

Heller, Josef August (c.1800-1855). Amateur composer and music critic active in Prague. Member of the committee for the establishment of a Czech National Theatre. Compositions include three operas, church music, secular choral works and songs in both German and Czech. Lumír 13/7/1854 related that he was the ‘composer of some operas (Zamora, Aurelia and the newest Marian de Lorme), and some songs with Czech texts.’
