Emanuel Chvála

Chvála, Emanuel (1851-1924). Czech pianist, composer, music critic and writer. Studied as an engineer in Vienna and then pursued a career as a railway official. He cultivated music in his spare time, having trained as as pianist and composer. He took an active rôle in Prague musical life as an officer of several music societies and as a critic and writer for local newspapers and periodicals.
