Antonín Mašek
Mašek, Antonín (1845-1875). Czech violoncellist, pianist and organist. Pupil of the Prague Seminary Institute for the Blind where he learnt the organ. Private violoncello pupil of Mořic Wagner (1861-1865) and then of Hegenbarth. From the late 1850s he appeared as a performer in Prague concert life, both as a soloist and accompanist at the keyboard, and as an accomplished ’cellist possesed of a virtuoso technique.
