Sigismund von Neukomm

Neukomm, Sigismud von (1778-1858). Austrian composer, pianist and conductor. Worked in various rôles in appointments ranging from conductor of the German Court Theatre in St Petersburg to Kapellmeister to Pedro I of Brazil. During the 1830s onwards he divided his time between residences in London and Paris. Output includes operas, incidental music, a large body of works for the church as well as secular songs.
