Jan Zach
Zach, Jan (1699-1733). Czech composer, violinist and organist. Provincial musical education, arriving in Prague in 1724 where he was active as a violinist and church musician. After failing to gain the position of organist at St Vitus [Sv. Vít] (1737) he moved abroad, first to Mainz and then working variously in Austria, Germany and Italy. Substantial creative output encompassing instrumental, chamber and orchestral music, as well as many church compositions.
