Národní listy 22/10/1862 published a notice announcing: ‘National besedas [Národní besedy] 23rd and 30th October, 5th, 12th, 20th and 27th November 1862 all at 7.30[pm]. Admission tickets for gentlemen obtained in the national bookshop of Mr Petřík in the New Alley [Nový Alej] nr 117-II. [Signed] Committee.’ On 20/11/1862 the newspaper reported in its section of home news: ‘Beseda. Fifth (penultimate) autumn beseda takes place today at 7.30pm in the Konvikt Hall and is exclusively dancing. The new Czech salon dance „Beseda“ will again be danced. Admission tickets for gentlemen are possible to obtain from the „národní knihkupectví [National bookshop]“ of Mr Em. Petřík in Nový alej nr.117-II.’

Previous events in this series of 6 autumn entertaiments had been made up of programmes divided into two parts, the first comprising songs, choruses and solo instrumental works, the second part of dances. The emphasis solely on dance, the most popular social entertainment of the time, possibly indicated that the previous programmes had not attracted substantial audiences.
