Mercy’s Anzeiger 13/5/1854 published an advertisement announcing: ‘Not to be missed. From Monday 15th May each Monday on the Schützeninsel [Střelecký ostrov / Shooters Island] the large orchestra of the worthy Royal 57th Infantry Regiment of Prince Jablonowsky under the leadership of Kapellmeister Mr A. Wallentin [Valentin] will perform a Harmoniemusik of the most select compositions. Also there will be available a 4-month old Dewitzer [Dejvice. A village on the outskirts of 1850s Prague that later became a suburb of the city] beer and all varieties of fish.’ The advertisement was undersigned by ‘Franz Nowaček [František Novaček], most likely then the restaurateur of the venue, and published again in the newspaper on 14/5/1854 and 15/5/1854. This series of entertainments evidently continued to be given weekly until 27th June; the above advertisement appearing in later issues of the newspaper and then in the daily almanac of entertainments published by the source on 19/6/1854 and 26/6/1854. No later issues contained further information, indicating that the series had come to an end.
