Commentary:

Tagesbote aus Böhmen 8/4/1854 reported that ‘Today at 12 noon in the Konvikt Hall takes place the concert of the siblings Mößner [Mösner], with the participation of Mr Ander.’ Previously, on 2/4/1854 the newspaper had reported that ‘The solo violinist from the Vienna Court Opera Theatre, Mr Mößner [Mösner], is arranging a concert with his sister, the harp virtuoso Miss Maria Mößner [Mösnerová].’ The source noted that the siblings also had the honour of being invited to perform in the salon of His Majesty the Emperor Ferdinand.

A brief review, unsigned, of this event was published by Tagesböte aus Böhmen 9/4/1854. The source reported that ‘Mr Christian Mösner, a magnificent violinist (soloist at the Court Theatre in Vienna), gave a Phantasie on themes from the opera Norma, a Rondo brillante by Beriot and the Reverie by Vieuxtemps with extraordinary delicacy. In Miss Marie Mösner we have come to know a very skilful and dignified harpist.’ Her playing was thought particularly astonishing for its ‘sons harmoniques and amazing self-confidence. The Court Opera singer Mr Alois Ander sang the „Alphorn“, a pretty composition of his own and „Adieu“ by Esser with a perfect veneer and accomplished beauty. Miss Janda [Jandová] sang two songs with power and expression. Professor Goltermann played with his customary virtuoso a nice solo.’
