Commentary:

Details of this concert, including the date, venue, programme and participating soloists were published by Tagesbote aus Böhmen 26/3/1854. Earlier on 21st March the same newspaper published news that Miss Janda [Jandová], who had appeared many times in local opera performances, would give a farewell concert on 2nd April. This earlier source contained no specific details of the concert but commented that although the event was announced as a ‘Farewell concert’, the singer’s departure was not yet certain as negotiations were still continuing [with regard to her local theatre position].

The sixth supplement to Lumír 1854, published on 28/3/1854 reported that ‘On Sunday will Miss Jandová give a farewell concert to the Prague public, in which she will sing some Czech songs. In her place at the local theatre will be appearing from Easter Miss Marschalová.’ No further details were published by the source.
