Commentary:

Bohemia 16/1/1851 published a report that for benefit of the Private-, Education- and Well-being Institute for Poor Blind Children [Privat- Erziehungs- und Heilinstituts für arme blinde Kinder], a Society Ball was arranged for 2nd February in the Žofín Hall. The text drew the attention of the public to ‘this good cause and beneficial establishment.’ Admission cards to the event were available daily for 1 fl: in the Old Town from the apothecary at the White Unicorn [zum weißen Einhorn], at the apothecary at the Golden Adder [zur goldenen Schlange] and from the shopkeeper Ratzenbeck; in the New Town from the apothecary at the Golden Griffin [zm goldenen Greif], from the court jeweller Grohmann; in the Little Quarter from the apothecary at the Golden Eagle [zum goldenen Adler] and from the house of Ottenkron.

News of this event was first published by Bohemia 24/12/1850 which reported that a musical trial for this ball was to be held on 26/12/1850. This text also specified the date of the February ball and the beneficiary.

The Tagesanzeiger text of Bohemia 2/2/1851 reported this event as taking place on Sunday 2nd February, noting ‘In Žofín Hall: Socity Ball for the benefit of the Institute for Poor Blind Children.
