Commentary:

Lumír 4/1/1854 reported this event. The correspondent initially drew attention to the welcome activity of the violinist in Prague and specifically his arrangement of a celebratory concert to mark the anniversary of Beethoven’s birth: ‘For a long time there has been no foreign virtuoso favoured in Prague in such measure as Mr Otto z Königslövu [von Königslöw], who is tarrying here for a further period and in concerts and in the salons gaining a celebrated reputation as an elegant violinist. This welcome guest arranged a particular type of entertainment not long ago with a great musical festival to honour the memory of Beethoven, [a festival] as we have unfortunately not heard from the time the Žofín Academy and Jelen [its dorector] prepared one such [event] pitifully, and for which we not must thank Königslöv [Königslöw], a foreigner.’ The report then proceeded to give details of the concert arranged and given by Königslöw on 6th January 1855: ‘On 6th January Mr z Lönigslövu [von Königslöw] is arranging at 12 noon a great concert on the Konvikt, in which he will perform the Eighth Concerto by L. Spohr, Andante cantabile by H.V. Ernst, two numbers by Vieuxtemps and a Concerto by Mozart, a performance of a well-known aria by Mozart which will be sung by the celebrated concert-singer Mrs Bočonová née Soukupová. Beside Mrs Bočonová, the concert-giver will be supported on 6th January by Miss Zadrobílková, pianist and pupil of Mr Kittl, Mr Lukes and Professor Goltermann.’ No further details were given by this source.

This concert marked the first public concert appearance of the young piano virtuoso Albertina Zadrobílková. The works that she performed, as with the works given by Lukes and Goltermann, were not specified by this source.
