New Town Theatre, opened in 1859 and providing an expansive, wooden and unheated (albeit roofed) venue for theatre performances and occasionally for concerts during the summer months. The theatre was used for circuses and other miscellanous entertainments at other times of the year. The first concert event took place there on 15/4/1860. The Theatre also had an association restaurant that was used for occasional social-musical entertainments.
