Tagesbote aus Böhmen 25/2/1854 published a report that in Jiránek’s Music Institute ‘today at 5pm in the first Production will be performed the Quartet in E-flat major by Beethoven, the Halleluja by Händel, Phantasie by Mozart in C minor and the Overture to Ruy Blas by Mendelssohn.’ The Overture was presumably performed in arrangement for multiple pianos. The Mozart Fantasie was almost certainly K475. Although the Halleluja was almost certainly from the oratorio Messiah and the Beethoven Quartet most likely the String Quartet op.74, the two latter works have been incorporated into the database record as being unspecified given the lack of any determining source evidence.
