Louis Joseph

Hérold, Louis Joseph Ferdinand (1791-1833). French composer. Studied at the Paris Conservatoire and won the Prix de Rome in 1812. Several years in Rome and Naples where he developed his career as an opera composer. Returned to Paris in 1816 and worked mainly in the Théâtre Italien from 1820 to 1827.His output comprises mainly operatic works and some chamber music.
