Johann Wenzel Kalliwoda Kaliwoda

Kalivoda, Jan Křtitel Václav (1801-1866). Czech composer, conductor and violinist. Violin pupil of B.W. Pixis, his early life was spent in Prague where after being a member of the Estates Theatre orchestra for several years (1816-1821) he embarked upon a European tour as a violinist. In 1822 he gained the position of Kapellmeister in Donaueschingen, which he occupied for the remainder of his life. His compositional output was prolific.
