Commentary:

Mercy’s Anzeiger 14/7/1854 published a brief review of this event, reporting: ‘On the previous Sunday (9th July) at 10am Mrs Auguste Kollmann-Beistein [Kollmann-Beisteinová] gave with consumate artistry in the St Raphael’s Church [chapel] of the Institute for the Accommodation and Employment of Adult Blind [der Versorgungs- und Beschäftigungsanstalt für erwachsene Blinde], a performance of several distinguished sacred songs by Haydn, Beethoven and Cherubini, [and] in which Mr Eduard Sommer participated with commendable precision and strong voice. The blind pensioners very creditably sang a vocal mass, and the music teacher of the Institute, Mr Joh. [actually Josef] Glanz, testified afresh to be a circumspect director and splendid organist.’ No further details of the event were given by this source.
