Commentary:

Mercy’s Anzeiger 30/4/1854 reported that a tree-planting took place on 24th April in Podolí [near Vyšehrad]. At 8am pupils from the [local] school processed from the schoolhouse. They assembled next to the school buildings and accompanied by songs [hymns?] and prayers two trees were planted. The ceremony was conducted by an unspecified priest from the local Benedictine mission. There followed in the schoolroom a celebratory address and the singing of the national anthem.
