Commentary:

According to the Dalibor 1/8/1859 review, this morning entertainment represented the annual practical examinations for pupils of Höger’s music institute. The review commended Höger upon the success of his teaching, and also for his choice of works. However, the critic also expressed a wish that future programmes would include more compositions by Czech composers. Concerning the performances themselves, a number of pupils were considered to deserve mention, including the then fifteen year old Karel Šebor.

The programme is reproduced in order corresponding with the listing of the works in the Dalibor 1/8/1859 text.
